What's happening is that Google has for the past 3 years been studying how they could rank social media profiles. This was of course due to the rise in social media's popularity for not only legitimate posts and use but also the ease of which it was spammed out. It looks like those who are 'power users' will have a lot of pull when it comes to getting a site ranked in the future. So if you are in the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">internet</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">marketing</span> world, you need to start really building value in your social networking profiles.
